The Jazz Studio is a digital multitrack recording facility, the use of which is dedicated to courses in the Jazz Studies curriculum. The studio utilizes the ADAT format for recording which is syncronized with MOTU FreeStyle (sequencing program/Mac) and Digidesign Audiomedia III (HD recording and sequencing/PC) allowing for virtual tracking. Once basic tracking is done, the project is mastered in Digidesign's Sound Tools (stereo mastering and editing program). After the program material is mastered, it can be recorded to DAT or CD. Video projects are actual jingles and industrial films that have been donated to the Jazz Studies area. All music tracks are recorded in the Jazz Studio, mixed by the students and dubbed to video for the students professional portfolio.

Also available to the student is a complete collection of the Jamey Aebersold play-alongs. The students can also access pitch-adjustable tape decks for transcription.
